Forskere ved Center for Neuroplasticity and Pain (CNAP) på Aalborg Universitet søger forsøgspersoner til et forsøg, der skal vise en mulig virkning af ikke-invasiv hjernestimulation på smerter.
Du kan deltage, hvis du er rask, i alderen 21-50 år, højrehåndet og taler og forstår engelsk.
Du kan ikke deltage, hvis du bl.a. viser dig at være disponeret for epileptiske anfald, har allergi over for chili, har metal-implantater i din krop, lider af kroniske smerter eller oplever akut smerte på forsøgstidspunktet eller hvis du tidligere har deltaget i forsøg/fået behandling med elektrisk stimulation af hjernen.
Forsøget består af to forsøgssessioner over en periode på to uger. Varigheden af sessionerne vil være fra 2-4 timer. Samlet tidsforbrug vil være ca. 8 timer.
I forsøgene måler vi din tærskel til forskellige stimulationer med tryk, varme og kulde samt elektriske stimulationer. Du vil opleve, at nogle af disse tests er smertefulde, men de vil forsvinde kort efter stimulationernes ophør. Vi påfører også forskellige elektriske stimulationer på dit hoved. Disse stimulationer vil knap være mærkbare, og de vil være i stand til at fremkalde kortvarige ændringer i dit smertesystem. I hver session vil vi endvidere sætte et plaster med capsaicin på din hånd/underarm. Capsaicin er det aktive stof i chili, og plasteret vil fremkalde let til moderat smerte og kløe. Du skal undervejs i forsøgene udfylde forskellige spørgeskemaer om dit helbred. Endvidere skal du udfylde en kort dagbog hver dag i forsøgsperioden.

Du vil modtage kr. 150 pr. laboratorietime som kompensation for din deltagelse i forsøget. Beløbet er skattepligtigt og vil blive indrapporteret til Skat som B-indkomst. Bemærk venligst, at du skal have en gyldig arbejdstilladelse, hvis du kommer fra et såkaldt tredjeland.

Can electric and magnetic stimulation of the brain be used for treatment of pain? - Sub-project 1

Researchers at Center for Neuroplasticity and Pain (CNAP) at Aalborg University are looking for volunteers for an experiment on the potential effects of non-invasive brain stimulation on pain.
You can participate if you are healthy, between 21-50 years old, right-handed, and speak and understand English.
You cannot participate if you, among others, have a predisposition to epileptic seizures, have allergy to chili, have metal implants in your body, suffer from chronic pain or acute pain on the time of the experiment, or if you have previously attended experiments/received treatment with electrical or magnetic stimulation of the brain.
The experiment includes up to two experimental sessions over a period of two weeks. The duration of each session will be from 2 to 4 hours. The total time involved in visits is approximately 8 hours.
In the experiments, we will measure your thresholds to various stimulations with pressure, heat and cold and electric stimulations. The pain you will experience from these tests is very brief and will disappear shortly after completion of the stimulations. We will also apply different electrical stimulations on your scalp. This stimulation is barely noticeable but is able to induce short-lasting changes in your pain system. In each session we will apply a patch with capsaicin on your hand/forearm for up to 24 hours each time. Capsaicin is the active ingredient in chili and the patch will evoke mild to moderate pain and itch. During the experiments, you are to fill in questionnaires about your health. Further, you are to fill in a short diary every day during the experimental period.

You will receive DKK 150 per laboratory hour as compensation for your participation in the experiment. The amount is liable to tax and will therefore be reported to the Danish tax authorities as B-income. Please note that you must have a valid work permit if you come from a so-called third country.
The experiment has been approved by The North Denmark Region Committee on Health Research Ethics, project number N-20180092.
